Site Managers
To be responsible for all activities on one of our surface coal mines, ensuring that they are carried out in a safe and efficient manner. Key requirements are:-
Applicants should have an appropriate degree and
be either RTPI or RICS qualified and should preferably have some
experience of mining or quarrying development. The successful candidate
will be based at the Company's HQ near Alloa in Clackmannanshire
and the position will attract a competitive salary, company car,
private health insurance and contributory pension scheme.
- Several years' experience of managing surface coal sites, quarrying
or bulk earthmoving operations.
- Thorough understanding of applicable Health, Safety and Environmental
Legislation and procedures.
- Blasting design qualifications.
- Ability to control operations within budget limits.
- Sound man management skills.
- Appropriate technical qualification
Site Engineers
Key requirements for these
positions are -
- ability to carry out topographical & volumetric surveys using
Total Stations & GPS equipment
- setting out of working areas and limits from drawings
- data processing & volumetric calculations using Digital Terrain
Modelling software packages
- preparation of working plans & reports
- competency with Microsoft Office packages
Candidates should ideally be educated to HNC level
with 2 years experience; however we are especially interested in
engineers from a general civil engineering, quantity surveying or
building background who show an ability and aptitude to train in
the above.
Mining Engineers
Required to carry out evaluation
of future sites, including preparation of working methods and assist
with detailed mine planning and scheduling on exiting operational
sites. Key requirements are:-
- Preferably educated to degree level, but not essential.
- Minimum of 4 years experience as a site engineer.
- Detailed understanding of mining operations and experienced
in the design and evaluation of working schemes.
- High degree of competence in the use of LSS or similar software
packages for mine design and quantity evaluation
- Competent in the use of MS Office packages.
- Understanding of applicable Health, Safety and Environmental
Legislation and procedures.
All the above positions, which offer excellent opportunity

Experienced Heavy
Plant Operators
Experienced heavy plant
operators, e.g. RH120 Excavators, Dozers, Graders and 100 tonne
Dumptrucks are required for our opencast coal sites in Ayrshire
and Lanarkshire.
Coded Welders & Heavy
Plant Fitters
Vacancies have arisen at
our opencast coal sites for experienced coded welders and heavy
plant fitters. Welders will be responsible for plating and refurbishing
buckets for our heavy plant whilst the fitters will be repairing
and maintaining our extensive fleet of heavy plant.
